Previous charity partnerships

Over the past few years we have decided to focus on supporting the work of one national charity at a time on a company-wide level, in addition to a number of individual and local charitable initiatives.

Between 2005 and 2009 Calor raised £100,000 for ChildLine, a free 24-hour counselling service providing advice, support and protection for children and young people in the UK with nowhere else to turn. This amount of money will cover the costs of answering 25,000 phone calls; recruiting and training 62 volunteer counsellors; or funding two supervisors for a whole year.

Esther Rantzen CBE, the charity's patron, wrote: "Thank you for everything Calor has done for us. I hope you realise how vital the partnership between ChildLine and Calor has been. We have been able to help thousands more children as a direct result of your donations to us. The £100,000 you raised has transformed children's lives, protecting them from pain, and helping us to bring abusers to justice.

From 2009 to 2012 Calor pledged support to Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY). Founded in 1995, CRY is a national charity aimed at raising awareness of conditions that can lead to Sudden Cardiac Death (SCD) and Sudden Death Syndrome (SDS) amongst young adults. Every week 12 apparently fit and healthy young people aged under 35 die in the UK from undiagnosed heart conditions.

CRY works with cardiologists and family doctors to establish good practice and appropriate screening facilities to promote and protect the cardiac health of the young. It also provides a range of services to support those bereaved, and funds medical research with the aim of preventing further young deaths.

Make-A-Wish Foundation®

From 2012 to 2014, Calor raised £100,000 for Make-A-Wish. We’ve hit our £100,000 target in just 24 months thanks to the fantastic efforts and individuals throughout Calor with fundraising initiatives.

Since Make-A-Wish was founded in the UK in 1986 it has granted more than 7,500 wishes to children in the UK. Every year, approximately 1,400 children with life-threatening conditions turn to the charity to have their wishes granted. Whether it's providing a moment of light relief during a difficult period of operations, procedures and medication, or giving a family the last happy memory of their child, these wishes really do change lives!

Thanks to everyone’s fundraising efforts, we reached our target of £100,000 within three years. We are now hoping to raise the same total for our current company charity – Alzheimer’s Society.
