Fuels for forward-thinking manufacturers

Better for the planet and your bottom line

Let’s face it. Good news in the energy market doesn’t come along very often. That’s why Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) and Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) are a breath of fresh air. LNG and LPG are versatile fuels already in widespread use in manufacturing plants worldwide wherever mains gas isn’t an option.

Clean-burning and low carbon, LPG and LNG are effective, tried-and-tested alternatives to expensive, oil-based systems for businesses concerned about costs and sustainability.

Benefits that are not just hot air

Switching from oil to Calor gas could cut your CO2 emissions by at least 20%.1 The cleanest of all fossil fuels, gas is also much lower in SOx and NOx emissions and emits only insignificant levels of harmful particulates.

If you worry about rising oil prices, you might be interested to know that our investment in gas storage facilities enables us to buy-forward and purchase gas in vast quantities. This allows us to stabilise prices and offer fixed price deals to large customers.

With increasing environmental legislation such as the Medium Combustion Plant Directive (MCPD) limiting the emission of pollutants from existing manufacturing plants by 2025, switching to gas is an easy win.2

LPG and LNG are ideal for manufacturing operations that involve steaming, roasting, boiling, baking, smelting and annealing. They’re used to heat aggregates, fuel distilleries and manufacture boilers. And to produce such diverse items as precision engineering components, pet food and dairy products, to name just a few.

What are LPG and LNG?

Natural gas without the pipeline

LPG is actually a blanket term for two gases, propane and butane, and LNG is natural gas in liquid form. Get the lowdown on the differences:

Which fuel is best?

It all comes down to how you use it

In a nutshell, LNG is the ideal choice for businesses that have continuous demand for fuel and spend more than £80,000 a year on energy. But if your business is seasonal or stop/start, you might be better off with LPG

We're always happy to discuss your business' energy requirements and recommend the fuel that's right for you. Please contact us if you'd like to talk through the options.
