Terms and Conditions of Calor Gas Limited’s “Free Above-Ground LPG Tank Installation” Offer (the “Offer”).

1.The promoter of the Offer is Calor Gas Limited (Registered Company No. 00303703) whose registered office is at Athena House, Athena Drive, Tachbrook Park, Warwick CV34 6RL (the “Promoter”).

2.The Offer is available to any customer switching their domestic energy supply to Calor Liquefied Petroleum Gas (“LPG”) from electricity, oil or solid fuel (the “Customer”) and entering into a two-year Calor Domestic Bulk Customer Supply Agreement (the “Agreement”.

3.No Customer shall be entitled to take up the Offer more than once.

4.Under the terms of the Offer, any Customer who enters into an Agreement will either receive:

a)the installation at no cost to the Customer of an above ground bulk LPG tank on a Calor pre-fabricated base with a capacity of up to 2,000 litres, including associated pipework up to 20 metres in length, but the Customer will be responsible for paying quarterly standing charges in respect of the tank as set out in the Agreement; or

b) the installation of an underground bulk LPG tank with a capacity of up to 2,000 litres, including associated pipework up to 20 metres in length. The standard tank installation cost to the Customer shall be £1,500, and Calor shall confirm the actual total sum payable prior to the Agreement being entered into. The Customer will also be responsible for paying quarterly standing charges in respect of the tank as set out in the Agreement

5.Any Customer entering into an Agreement will be charged either:

a) a fixed price per litre of LPG throughout the first 12 months of the Agreement, which shall be indicated within the Agreement; or

b)LPG at the price per litre applicable at the time it is delivered, in which case, in the event of a price rise at any time exceeding the rate of 3.5 pence per litre in any three-month period during the Agreement, the customer shall have the right to terminate the Agreement within 30 days of being notified of the price increase by providing 42 days’ written notice to Calor.

6.No cash alternative to the Offer is available, and the Promoter reserves the right to withdraw the Offer at any time.

7.The Offer is not open to employees of the Promoter or anyone who, in the reasonable opinion of the Promoter, is connected with the organisation of the Offer.

8.The Offer is only available to residents of mainland Great Britain aged 18 or over.

9.The Promoter reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions at any time without notice if, in the Promoter’s opinion, events or circumstances occur outside of its control. No correspondence will be entered into.

  2. The Offer is not open to commercial customers or employees of the Promoter or anyone connected with the organisation of the Offer.
  3. Subject to a satisfactory site survey, if you enter into a two-year domestic bulk supply agreement with Calor, we will credit £250 to your Calor LPG account when the first delivery of LPG is made (“the Offer”).
  4. When you contact Calor about this Offer you may be given the option of fixing your gas price with Calor for a twelve-month period. A fixed-price gas option may not be available to all customers.
  5. The Promoter reserves the right to withdraw the Offer or to amend these terms and conditions at any time without notice, if in its reasonable opinion, events or circumstances change.
  6. Offers apply to UK mainland residents aged 18 years or over.
  7. This Offer cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer of the Promoter and no cash alternative is available.
  8. £250 free gas valid for customers until further notice.

Switching LPG supplier guidelines

These guidelines are set out to explain how and when you can change your LPG supplier.

When you can change supplier?

An LPG supply contract usually lasts for around two years. If you are entering into an agreement with us to supply your LPG, this will be for a minimum period of two years. This means that you are agreeing to take bulk LPG for your home energy supply only from us for at least two years from the date when the agreement starts.

  • If you are renewing an existing agreement with us, or if you are changing to Calor from another bulk LPG supplier, the minimum period starts when both you and we have signed the agreement.
  • If this is your first agreement with any LPG supplier the minimum period starts from the date when we first fill your tank with gas. These procedures are described in more detail below, under the heading “How you can change supplier after the end of the minimum period”.

You will be able to enter into a new agreement with Calor or change to another bulk LPG supplier at any time after the end of the minimum period.

If we have written to you because your agreement has gone beyond the initial minimum (exclusivity) period, you have the option of continuing on your existing terms and conditions, or entering into a new agreement with Calor, or changing to another bulk LPG supplier.

How to change supplier after the end of the minimum period?

You can find another bulk LPG supplier in various ways, including from the UKLPG website at www.uklpg.org which has a list of alternative bulk LPG suppliers or alternatively from their helpline by calling 02476 711 601.

Once you have found another supplier with whom you wish to enter into an agreement, you need to carry out the following steps:

  1. Serve notice to terminate your agreement with us either by:

    1. giving us notice in writing 42 days before you wish your agreement with us to terminate:

      in each case marked for the attention of the customer services department. (If you serve this notice yourself, you need to tell your new supplier that you have done so).

    2. or

    3. by asking your new supplier to send notice to us on your behalf (They will need you to sign an appropriate document terminating your agreement with us).
  2. We will then liaise with the new supplier to make the necessary arrangements, but you will need to decide whether:
    1. you wish your current LPG tank to remain in place and be bought by your new supplier
    2. you would like your current tank taken out and replaced by a new tank provided by your new supplier

    However, the final decision on which of these options is followed is with your new supplier, depending for example on their assessment of your property and the tank layout.

    Either way, outside the minimum period we will not charge you for any costs involved in either transferring our tank to the new supplier, or taking our tank and equipment away.

How long it will take to change supplier?

From the time when we receive your notice of termination of your agreement, where the tank is to be transferred to the new supplier the time limit for the process is 28 days.

If for some reason this cannot take place and the tank has to be removed and replaced by a new tank, the overall process may take up to 42 days.

The new supplier will normally want to inspect the tank and the pipework to ensure that they are willing to buy the tank. If they decide that they are not willing to buy it, they will need to come back and discuss the options with you which may include tank replacement; moving the tank to an alternate location; or choosing an alternative such as LPG cylinder supply. If the tank has to be relocated, the new supplier may ask you to agree to extend the tank transfer process beyond the standard 42 days.
