Introducing hybrid off-grid energy
Futureproof your home's energy supply with a hybrid heating system. By combining an LPG tank with an Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP) heating system, you'll not only reduce your carbon emissions, you could also reduce your heating bills too*.
If you’re an oil customer switching to an LPG hybrid, there are fuel savings to be realised. An oil customer with an annual heat demand of 16,000 kWh could save up to 15% each year* by switching to a hybrid heating system.
You’ll also benefit from having a decarbonised heating system, potentially saving up to 49% of carbon emissions* and have to worry less about when to fill up your LPG tank, as the heat pump will always be fulfilling your heat needs at a low temperature.
* Based on:
• Electricity price at £0,3o per kWh.
• Oil prices based on current (August 2023) rates of £0.75 per litre.
• A heat pump SCOP of 3.4.
• The heat pump meeting 25% of all heating demand.
• Carbon intensity per kg/ kWh LPG: 0.228, Kerosine: 0.266, Electricity: 0.193.
Your installer will work to ensure you have a daily provision of heating and hot water that meets your home energy needs.
As part of your installation, you’ll have access to the partner's app. This is an Intelligent Smart Control platform that allows you to manage and control your heating system from your phone, tablet, or computer. It uses a learnt thermal model
of your home, together with weather forecasts, to work out the most cost-effective way to heat your home.
You set up the schedule and temperature for when you’re home, and the controls will work in the background to give you the temperature you want when you want it.
There are a few reasons why a home wouldn’t be suitable for a hybrid heating solution. Our team of experts will take you through some questions to establish whether your home is suitable and would benefit from this system.
If you move house, the hybrid heat pump will remain at the property.
You sign into a two-year exclusive gas supply agreement with Calor. After this time, you’re free to switch suppliers if you wish, or you can renew your agreement with us. In terms of the hybrid heat pump, you will purchase this and, once purchased, will own the appliances.
Heat pumps have similar sound levels to the running of a microwave or air-conditioning unit.
We hope you won't need to complain but if you do, please visit calor.co.uk/complaints and complete our online form.
