Project description

Describe your project
We want to replace and upgrade the play equipment in the Village. The existing swings are beginning to rot so need replacing. The village has no shop, school or public transport and many people drive their children and grandchildren to better nearby playgrounds. We would like the play equipment to be more varied and available to children of all abilities.

How will your project benefit your local community?
Better play equipment will encourage younger families to move to the village or stay in the village. We would like to have some equipment which is accessible for less able children. A good playground will provide a social meeting place for children and young families and reduce the need to drive to better playgrounds in nearby villages.

Please give details of any support you have from your local community
We have established a village working party to drive local fundraising and to get involved in the choice of equipment. The project has the support of the Parish Council.

How big is your community? And how many people will benefit from your project?
About 30 children in the village and another 30 visiting children and grandchildren

Tell us what you intend to spend the money on.
A play 'tractor' for younger children to play on. We have included a picture later of what we would like to do. This is a tractor that a nearby village has in their playground, which we understand is very popular.

When and why was your project founded?
October 2018 after carrying out a whole village survey. The majority of the village wanted to replace existing equipment and add more when funding is available.
