Describe your project
I started Rocking Ukuleles of St Ives two years ago to give a group of Pensioners the opportunity to learn to play Ukulele and develop their Singing as well as playing skills, as we progressed we started to play for local organisations and any money we raise goes to local Good causes and Charities, the Epilepsy Society is close to my heart and receives donations from us. We sometimes play for causes that will raise money for them in these cases we don't ask for any money. We have played at the Armed forces Day Celebration in St ives Twice now helping raise money for the poppy appeal , and February saw us play in St Ives Free church for their Save our Spire appeal, we donated £75 on the night and helped raise over £700 for the church. We also entertain at elderly peoples organisations
How will your project benefit your local community?
The benefit to our local Community will be the pleasure Rocking Ukuleles of St Ives give to a lot of Elderly Audiences. As well as raising money for our charities. Members of Rocking Ukuleles meet every Monday evening so the enjoyment we get from our practice sessions keeps us all very happy. Rocking Ukuleles play at the Heron Club in St Ives, this is A meeting place for People with learning difficulties, and is a highlight of our playing as the audience have such a good evening singing with us.
