Kilsby War Memorial Restoration

Fund applied for: £1,000

Location: West Midlands

Voting starts 2nd May

Project description

Describe your project
Restoration of the War Memorial by cleaning and straightening of the Cross, replacing wooden surrounds with stone to include an inscription on the front stone, with 4 vase pots in the corners and chippings in between.

How will your project benefit your local community?
This will avoid having to regularly replace wooden surrounds and maintain garden plants which has been carried out by members of the community who are now too elderly to continue.

Please give details of any support you have from your local community
An appeal to the local community has raised nearly half the amount needed for the restoration.

How many people will benefit from your project?
The memorial is situated on Church Walk which is a path which runs through the churchyard. It is therefore regularly seen by people walking by. It is a memorial to those who lost their lives in the 1st and 2nd world wars and in particular to the 22 men from the village whose names are recorded in a plaque in the church.

Tell us what you intend to spend the money on.
Materials and labour for the restoration and improvement of the war memorial.

When and why was your project founded?
February 2018

We will also be raising additional funds through Crowdfunder. More details to follow on 2nd May on how you can support us
