Project description

Describe your project
Inchmarlo Village Hall requires a fixed overhead projector located in front of, and above the stage located at the end of the hall. Following a minor electrical refurbishment a power source was installed in anticipation of such a projector. The existing white backdrop at the back of the stage will provide a means by which media can be shown to an audience in the hall. At present a projector has to be loaned from individuals in the community and set up on a temporary basis in the hall each time there is such a requirement. There is always the risk that a projector may become unavailable just prior to the event. This is an unsatisfactory arrangement.

How will your project benefit your local community?
The local community at Bridge of Canny is breathing new life into the Inchmarlo Village Hall. Local groups use the hall throughout the year on a regular basis. The hall also provides a venue for Burns Suppers, Discos, Quizzes, Music Nights, Murder Mystery Nights, Birthday Parties, Wedding Receptions and Art Exhibitions. A number of these events require the use of a projector. The Hall Committee also believes that hall utilisation should be increased to better consolidate it's role in community life. To this end, the purchase and installation of a fixed overhead project would allow the hall to expand its usage to include visually aided presentations, talks and children's film shows in addition to those activities mentioned above.

Please give details of any support you have from your local community
Inchmarlo Village Hall is run by the local community for the benefit of the local community. The number of participants in the activities has been growing and continues to grow with the expansion of the of the local community where events can attract near full hall capacity.

How big is your community? And how many people will benefit from your project?
Inchmarlo Village Hall benefits the immediate rural community around Bridge of Canny which numbers circa 150, and also attracts participants from a wide area in mid Deeside.

Tell us what you intend to spend the money on.
Market research has shown that a suitable projector that will show the types of media required can be readily purchased for circa £1,200 including VAT.

When and why was your project founded?
This is a new project. Inchmarlo Village Hall was erected in 1924 and has been in regular use since that time.
