Describe your project
The parish of Botus Fleming consists of two villages, Botus Fleming and Hatt. The population is around 750 people. We have very few amenities in our community and it is not a wealthy parish. One of the few amenities we have is our recreation field in Hatt. It is not owned by the parish, but is leased from a local landowner. It is our ambition to one day purchase the field, if we can raise the finances and then fund a community centre for all our residents. We have many children and young people that live in the parish and at present the facilities on the field are woefully inadequate and quite frankly an embarrassment. The Parish Council would like to improve the play area for our children, without raising the Parish Council precept, which in these times of austerity could make it financially difficult for our community.
How will your project benefit your local community?
By improving the play area for our children and young people, it would foster healthier pastimes and allow parents and extended family members to spend time with and see their children utilise the new equipment. The current equipment consists of a set of broken swings. It is a sad sight and something we would like to remedy as soon as we can. Unfortunately we are not a wealthy parish but could raise the 50% of the approximate outlay of £5000.
Please give details of any support you have from your local community
We have a vibrant and caring population that performs a great deal of work to improve the community. The most cited feedback during our Neighbourhood Development Plan consultations revealed a strong desire within our community to improve and enhance the Hatt Recreation Field. Amongst other things, Parishioners told us that they would like to see improved play areas for the children of our community.
How big is your community? And how many people will benefit from your project?
There are many children and young people in our community. In addition to young families, there are also a number of elderly people that have commented that they would like somewhere for their grand children to play when they visit them. We would purchase a piece of play equipment (picture attached) that would guarantee the children of our community hours of endless and safe play.

When and why was your project founded?
We have been exploring this project for approximately six months, but unfortunately to date have not had the funding available to make it a reality. We hope that should we receive your assistance we could make a real difference to the lives of our children and their parents.
