Project description

Describe your project
Our project is the provision and installation of audio visual equipment for the new Galhampton Village Hall at an estimated cost of about £6000 including VAT. The equipment will comprise: (1) basic audio set up; (2) 4 speakers; (3) a 2 channel amplifier; (3) a hand held radio microphone and Bluetooth for phone connection; (4) cabling; (5) a lighting system including stage lights, a 24 channel lighting desk and associated cabling; (5) white faceplates for audio and lighting connections; (6) wall mounted rack for audio equipment and hearing loop amplifier; and (7) internally wired lighting bars. The equipment as referred to above is required in the new Village Hall in order that the facilities provided in it are maximised for the benefit of the village community.

How will your project benefit your local community?
Because the new Village Hall (to be completed in about 3 weeks time) will be able to provide proper facilities for the events that are planned, including parties, dances, wedding receptions, lectures and adult learning. All of these activities require facilities of the type envisaged by the project.

Please give details of any support you have from your local community
Overwhelming support for the building of the new Village Hall has been received from the community (following a survey to which 71% responded, 99% wanted a new Village Hall) which itself raised £90,000 towards the total cost of £975,559. Although part of the balance required has been funded by sources including the National Lottery (£712,356), there is a budget deficit of £37,103.

How big is your community? And how many people will benefit from your project?
It is estimated that at least 700 people will benefit, including the residents of Galhampton and communities in the local towns and villages.

Tell us what you intend to spend the money on.
We intend to spend the money on the audio visual equipment, as described in paragraph 1 above. We have very carefully chosen this equipment with a view to ensuring that the new Village Hall has available facilities that will benefit each and every section of the community, both locally and further afield. Following our "end" financial position, indicating a deficit of £37,103 caused because of unbudgeted (and unavoidable) expenditure arising during the course of the construction of the new Village Hall, we are unable to fund the expenditure ourselves and need outside help.

When and why was your project founded?
Our project to build a properly equipped new Village Hall at Galhampton, following the structural failure of the old one, commenced in 2012.
