Our company charity
We have found it more valuable and effective to focus our support on the work of one charity as a means of engaging staff around a central cause. As such we choose a national charity by an all-staff voting process – typically for a three-year duration – for which the majority of corporate fundraising efforts are undertaken. Following our successful partnership with Make-A-Wish Foundation® UK, our new corporate charity is Alzheimer’s Society.
Let's beat dementia!
Alzheimer’s Society is the UK’s leading support and research charity for people with dementia, their families and carers. With 800,000 people living with dementia in the UK, they work to improve the quality of life of people with Dementia via:
- Local services - Day care and home care for people with dementia, support and befriending services
- Research on the causes of dementia, good practice in care and treatment, and pursuing a cure
- Training and development services for health and care professionals
- Campaigning and raising awareness through a combination of detailed policy analysis, lobbying, influencing and direct action
Our target is to raise £100,000 through a mix of corporate and individual fundraising initiatives, including dress down Fridays, bake sales, half marathons and marathons – all by members of staff. In addition, the popular ‘Gift of the Gas’ scheme will continue: we pledge to donate £5 to the charity* for every disused Calor cylinder returned to an approved Calor outlet.
Ray Nash, Senior Regional Corporate Fundraising Executive said: This partnership will make a big difference to people affected by dementia raising much needed funds and also raising awareness of dementia and how this terrible disease affects people”.
Calor’s Managing Director Stephen Rennie said: “We are very proud to be working with Alzheimer’s Society to improve the quality of life of people with Dementia and help support their local services, research, training, campaigning and raising awareness. We hope that our contribution will make a real difference to those affected, as well as their family and carers.”
