» Millbrook Proving Ground - August - September 2010
Calor recently commissioned independent tests on LPG and diesel forklifts at the Millbrook Proving Ground in Bedfordshire. Although it is widely recognised as a cleaner fuel, the tests were implemented to discover just how cleaner LPG is when compared to diesel. The results can be found below:
- Calor LPG trucks produce up to 98% fewer air particulates compared to diesel *. (Please see the graphical illustration below....)
- Calor LPG is lead and soot free and fitted with a 3-way catalyst contain virtually zero Carbon Monoxide and Hydrocarbons **.
- Calor LPG has the lowest overall co2 emmissions compared to both diesel and electric ***.
- Calor LPG forklifts are up to 10 decibels quieter than a diesel forklift ****

» This is what LPG emissions look like.......
During the tests at Millbrook Proving Ground, white pads were placed over a 2.5 tonne LPG truck exhaust pipe with the truck in operation. The results are clear.....
» And what about Diesel?
The same test was then conducted on the same 2.5 tonne trucks, for the same period of time, but with a Diesel engine.
We have always known Calor LPG is kinder to the environment than Diesel, but not even we thought it would look like this..........
» And as for electric forklift trucks.....
This is what generates a vast majority of electricity in the UK - coal fuelled power stations. Electricity from centralised power sources like this is said to be in the region of 40% efficient.....
