Using hoses and flexible tubing
Hoses and tubing are really important in the installation of LPG gas bottles, which is why we encourage you to be careful with the storage of this vulnerable equipment.
To ensure you keep your hoses and tubing in tip-top condition, keep it away from bright sunlight, dampness, abrasion and excessive loading. Supplies should be confirmed with a valid certification to BS3212 or BSEB1763, and should also be manufactured under a quality system registered to BS EN ISO 9000. BS3212 or BSEN1763. Hoses should also include the year and name of the manufacturer. Hoses and tubing bought from Calor will comply with these standards.
The normal useful service life for a hose is approximately 5 years, so do remember to replace them at the end of their life span. Bear in mind:
- Demanding operating conditions or misuse can reduce a hose’s lifetime
- Routinely check for visual signs of cuts, cracks, fading, brittleness, hot spots and more
- Contact a Calor stockist to check the hose if you think it’s damaged.
Not sure who to contact to check your hose and tubing? We recommend taking your equipment to caravan park operators, Calor Gas stockists and Calor centre delivery drivers, who regularly come into contact with flexible hose applications may be able to help.
