Combined Heat and Power

Combined Heat and Power (CHP) in commercial buildings offers an energy efficient solution that can cut both carbon emissions and energy costs by generating electricity on site.

» Reduce reliance on the grid

A Combined Heat and Power (CHP) system is effectively an on-site, stand alone power plant capable of producing both electricity and heat from a single LPG fuel supply.

The heat from the engine is used for central heating and hot water, whilst the engine generates the electricity.

Effectively, CHP significantly reduces the reliance on electricity from the national grid – a fuel in the UK that is approximately only 35% efficient, and considerably more expensive than LPG as a fuel source.

» The Benefits of an LPG fuelled CHP system

  • CHP can offer significant energy cost savings for businesses with a high electricity load.
  • CHP can reduce carbon emissions greatly by removing the reliance on the national grid, where electricity from coal fired power stations is typically 35% efficient.
  • Easily integrated with an existing LPG system.
  • Tried and tested technology that is used extensively in Germany and Scandanavia.
  • Enhanced Capital Allowances and Interest Free Carbon Trust Loans could be made available.

» Ideal for:

  • Schools
  • Hotels
  • Leisure centres
  • Restaurants
  • Community Centres
