Calor Drivers

Your Calor delivery driver is responsible for supplying gas to your home - and a whole lot more besides!Your Calor delivery driver is responsible for supplying gas to your home - and a whole lot more besides! In fact he does a great deal of work behind the scenes to ensure your energy supply is safe, clean and efficient.

Dr Terry Ritter, Safety, Health and Environment Manager at Calor explains, "We work actively to ensure that high standards of safety are set and maintained for the benefit of our customers and the industry".

It's in maintaining these high standards that your delivery driver comes into his own. For example, each time he brings your gas, he will give your tank a 16 point service. This includes checking that your tank is not damaged and associated pipes and fittings are in satisfactory condition. He'll even examine the surrounding area for any flammable materials.

The driver carries some standard basic replacement tank accessories such as hoods, padlocks and float gauges. These will be replaced as required, at the time of delivery, free of charge.

He'll even examine the surrounding area for any flammable materials. If your tank needs to be cleaned or painted, Calor will do it as soon as possible at no extra charge.

Your delivery driver is just as capable at dealing with underground tanks.

Each time a Calor driver brings your gas, he will give your tank a 16 point serviceHe'll check your underground tank everytime it is filled, and examine the valves, covers and green marker pegs (so we ask that you do not remove these). Every year we also send a specialist Calor contractor along to check that your underground tank's corrosion protection system is in working order.

Your driver can rectify many faults on the spot, but if he can't solve the problem himself he will report it. For most minor faults, a CORGI-registered contractor will carry out repairs at no extra charge.

There's definitely a lot more to being a Calor driver than meets the eye.

How Calor takes care of your tank

  • Visually inspect the tank whenever gas is delivered.
  • Prompt attention to maintenance including replacement parts, tank washing and painting.
  • Tank maintenance will be identified and repaired by trained Calor approved contractors.
  • An ‘in service’ examination (usually carried out after 10 years). This entails a change of the pressure relief valve, ultrasonic thickness measurement (above-ground tanks) and checks for leaks and corrosion, carried out by fully trained and accredited inspectors.
  • Tanks up to two tonnes capacity and in vapour offtake service receive an ‘enhanced’ examination (usually carried out at 10 year intervals). As well as carrying out an ‘in service’ examination, supplementary detailed checks are carried out on the valves, regulators and pipework by a trained specialist. All other tanks receive a thorough examination (usually carried out at 20 year intervals) in which the tank is completely overhauled and all valves replaced.
  • If Calor needs to replace the tank during its service life, this will be carried out at no cost to you.
  • Full Emergency Service for reporting faults or gas leaks. Learn more about emergency procedures.
