Future of Rural Energy - Wales

Working with National Energy Action Cymru, Calor will fund and deliver an energy advisorship initiative in key Welsh communities identified as most at risk of Fuel Poverty.

» How will the FREE programme be implemented in Wales?

The FREE Wales initiative comprises of six stages:

1. Building social capital and partners: roundtable discussion on the needs of fuel poor households in off the mains gas areas in Wales.

2. Development of an ‘Off-Grid’ Advice Pack & Web Pages

3. Training Day for Local Advisors Working in Off Grid Areas & Launch Event

4. Local Energy Efficiency Advice Roadshows

A roundtable discussion will bring together key stakeholders from all sectors delivering services in off-gas grid areas to discuss the role key services play and map need across rural Wales. This work will inform the development of an advice pack and web pages specifically developed to meet the needs of rural Welsh households.

NEA Cymru will provided bespoke training sessions specifically targeting advice providers working in off-grid areas in Wales. They will then be responsible for arranging and delivering community energy roadshows to raise awareness of fuel poverty and offer assistance in their local communities.
