» Secure energy
More than 50% of the global LPG production comes from natural gases extracted directly from the earth while the balance comes from refining of crude oil. (Source: WLPGA Statistical Review of Global LP Gas 2008).
LPG is a cleaner energy source that is secure and most importantly available now. Thanks to natural gas and the oil-refining industry, Europe is almost self sufficient in LPG. Europe’s security of supply is further safeguarded by a wide range of sources, (both inside and outside of Europe) and a flexible supply chain, via water, rail and road, with numerous routes and entry points into Europe.
» Innovative energy
Furthermore because of the infrastructure already in existence for LPG and it’s limited impact on the environment, LPG is a natural complement to innovative and renewable energy systems that require a complementary source to compensate for intermittency.
Calor has been working alongside Cerres Power to create an LPG powered fuel cell boiler for 2012. This will allow LPG customers not just to heat their homes, and hot water, but also generate their own electricity.
