Win a Calor patio heater

With Christmas and New Year’s Eve fast approaching it’s the time of year to start thinking about parties and inviting the neighbours round for mulled wine and a mince pie. But do you ever tire of spending those cold winter nights entertaining indoors? Ever wish you could spend more time in your garden? If so, a Calor patio heater could be just the answer.

Many people spend time and effort making their garden look aesthetically pleasing – especially since property development programmes have made features like decking so popular. Patio heaters are the ideal way to enjoy an attractive garden all year round – taking the chill off the air during summer evenings and providing warmth for winter nights spent outside.

Garden aesthetics is something Calor understands. That’s why the UK’s leading LPG supplier offers unobtrusive underground storage tanks. All that is visible with this type of installation is a compact round green cover, which gives access to the valve assembly. Once the tank is buried, the area can be landscaped with grass, flowers or shallow rooted shrubs.

Calor makes the LPG underground tank installation a very simple process for both the customer and the installer. Once LPG has been chosen as the preferred fuel, all the installer needs to do is supply Calor with their customer’s contact details. A Calor representative then visits the customer, evaluates the proposed site and recommends a suitable location for the tank. Being underground, the minimum distance required between the tank and the property can be reduced – often making siting easier. Calor will assist with the application of any planning permission that may be required, and provides detailed information and guidance on the excavation process.

Once the ground has been prepared – by excavating a trench (which should be a minimum of 600mm deep and the width of a garden spade) and preparing a hardcore base – a Calor approved contractor delivers and installs the tank, connects the gas pipeline to the property and fills the tank with Calor LPG. The underground gas pipe will enter the property at about 600mm above ground level, and is controlled by a valve. The installer then needs to connect the pipe to the central heating system and any other household appliances, and tests for gas tightness. The tank remains the property and responsibility of Calor and is checked and maintained by Calor’s qualified engineers every time gas is delivered.

If you want to enjoy your own garden all year round, why not enter our competition to win a Calor patio heater (worth £300). Just answer this simple question: Once a Calor underground storage tank has been installed what can you see?

a) A red hatch
b) A compact round green cover
c) A purple lid
