What is The Think Tank®?
Clever new advanced wireless technology which allows Calor LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) tanks to think for themselves, so that Calor knows how much LPG remains in a tank and top-up deliveries can be arranged automatically.
What is Calor LPG?
Calor Country Living LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) is a clean and convenient fuel that can provide any home in a non-mains gas area with its own independent gas supply. The fuel can be used in the home to provide exactly the same level of comfort and versatility as mains gas for heating, real flame fires, hot water and cooking.
How does The Think Tank® work?
A contents gauge is fitted to the top of the tank which regularly measures the level of gas within the tank. Also fitted to the tank is a fin-like transmitter unit that sends a signal to a dialer unit inside the home. This dialer unit automatically contacts Calor’s central computer to update Calor on the gas level in the tank. Basically, the system does all the work so you don’t ever have to worry about re-ordering your fuel.
Why is the system needed?
Calor has designed the system to provide their customers who live in remote areas or who lead busy lives, with a time-saving, hassle-free service so they don’t get caught short.
If you’re thinking about switching your type of fuel, this technology is also great news as all new Calor Country Living LPG tank installations will have the system fitted as standard, subject to site survey.
How much will it cost me?
The installation and telephone calls to Calor to relay the level of gas in the tank are free of charge. The existing standing charge paid by customers contributes towards the installation, maintenance and call costs of the system, as well as existing tank maintenance and the emergency services. The first 100 days of this standing charge are waived for all customers signing up to the system. The free installation of the equipment sets Calor’s offer apart from other alternative fuel providers.
As I’m a fan of gas hob cooking, I’ve been thinking about switching my home to run on Calor LPG, but as I frequently work away from home, I’m worried about running out of gas. How can I overcome this?
Relax - The Think Tank® is the perfect solution. The technology does all the thinking and orders gas automatically whilst you’re away, so no need to worry about forgetting to re-order gas. And since Calor also maintains and insures your tank, and can carry out the work whether you’re at home or not, you really can cook on gas with no worries.
Do I need to be in to have The Think Tank® system installed?
Yes, the installer will need access inside the property to install and test the system, which on average only takes 30 minutes.
What if the system fails – will I run out of gas?
No need to worry, you will still receive gas deliveries as normal as there is a built-in fail-safe solution which reverts to the existing forecasting system for deliveries in the event of breakdowns.
I live on top of a hill in a remote coastal location – can The Think Tank® be fitted to my property?
A site survey needs to be carried out to establish site suitability, but in most cases it is possible for the system to be fitted and with your remote location, it seems like you’re the perfect candidate for the system.
I work from home so require regular use of my phone and internet lines – will the technology interfere with this?
No, it will not affect any existing home technology systems such as security alarms, cable, telephone or internet connections. If the telephone line is being used, The Think Tank® signal will not attempt to over-ride the line, it will simply try to download the information to Calor via the modem later.
My neighbour has just had The Think Tank® system installed – does this mean I should too?
It is entirely up to you – the system has been designed as a time-saving, hassle-free device which can especially help those people who live in remote areas or who lead busy lives.
Since The Think Tank® does all the thinking for you and you don’t have to remember to order gas, it really is like having your own personal gas supply,so well worth signing up to.
I had my above ground tank installed last Summer – am I able to upgrade this to include the new technology?
At present, The Think Tank® is only available with a new above or below ground tank installation, subject to a site survey. Calor is rapidly updating the technology so contact your local Customer Operations Centre (via the contact details which will appear on your statement) who will be able to advise you on upgrade timescales.
How can I find out more about The Think Tank®?
Call 0800 121 4461 to speak to a Calor representative in your area for general information on Calor LPG, how the new technology can help you, or to arrange a sales appointment.
