An LPG fuel supply was the only option for the Robinson’s when the oil tank in their traditional Welsh stone cottage began to leak.
Living beyond the reach of mains gas in the remote village of City Dulas in Anglesey, the couple were quick to turn to Calor Country Living as a replacement domestic fuel for their 150 year old cottage, having enjoyed the benefits of an LPG supply before in a previous property.
Brian Robinson explains:
“We found the original oil supply to our home very noisy and smelly and not at all in keeping with our idea of a dream cottage. We also wanted to install a combi boiler, something which can work out more expensive on oil, and having been used to an LPG fuel supply previously, the ability to cook on gas was also a priority for us.
“We also felt that oil boilers tend to require more maintenance than gas versions, therefore needing to be replaced on a far more frequent basis which was another turn-off.”
Calor LPG is the clean and efficient fuel which can provide all the comforts and benefits provided by a mains gas supply, from the controllability of a gas hob, to the comfort of a real flame fire.
Stored in liquid form in a tank, either above or below ground level or in cylinders adjacent to the house, Calor Gas is delivered direct to homes, exactly when it is required thanks to The Think Tank®, a new technology being incorporated across new above or below tank installations, subject to a site survey.* This is an additional attraction for the Robinson’s, who are often away during the colder months of the year, as Brian Robinson comments:
“We turned to Calor Country Living because it was a name we had heard of and trusted. Regular payment through a direct debit account suited us, as well as the peace of mind that when we are running low on gas, Calor tops it up without us putting in an order, so we know that even whilst we’re away, our heating pipes will stay warm and our cottage will not run out of fuel.
“The installation of our above ground tank went really smoothly and we did not experience any problems at all.”
The Robinson’s are not the only family in Anglesey to have recently made the switch from oil to Calor LPG. Just a couple of weeks after moving into their modern, detached home in nearby Trefdrath, Brian and Brenda Murphy were straight onto Calor about the installation of an LPG tank, as Brian Murphy explains:
“We benefited from Calor LPG in our previous property so we knew exactly what was involved and how easy the fuel is to live with. It is the cleanliness and simplicity of LPG that we like and it is far less smelly than oil too.”
In addition, Calor LPG tanks are maintained and insured by Calor and have very safe cut-off systems. Calor’s delivery men, as well as being highly skilled drivers, are also qualified to carry out a range of important safety and maintenance checks. So if a fault is detected during a tank filling, the driver can often sort it all out on the spot, thanks to the stock of approved spares such as gauges, tank hoods, padlocks and labels which they carry. If there is a minor fault that cannot be sorted immediately, Calor will turn to a CORGI-registered Calor-approved contractor to carry out the necessary work.
