If
you are planning to hold a barbecue this summer, consider
doing it for a good cause - Calor’s ‘Gift
of the Gas’ campaign in aid of children’s
charity ChildLine.
As part of a year-long fundraising initiative for ChildLine,
Calor is urging people to gather friends, family and
neighbours together during the summer months for fun,
food and fundraising.
The company’s ‘Gift of the Gas’ campaign
was launched following results of a research report*
which revealed that one in ten children have nobody
in their lives to talk to and that this could, in part,
be due to the fact that families are spending less time
communicating face-to-face.
By encouraging people to hold barbecues, Calor aims
to raise vital funds to enable ChildLine to recruit
and train more volunteer counsellors to answer more
of the thousands of children calling the charity’s
24-hour free, 24-hour helpline every day with all kinds
of problems. And by encouraging people to hold barbecues,
which have been proven to provide a fun and informal
atmosphere in which people can relax and chat, Calor
is hoping that people will be encouraged to spend more
quality time together.
The ‘Gift of the Gas’ barbecue appeal is
being backed by celebrity supporters including Philip
Schofield, Brian Turner and Gary Rhodes, whose top tips
for barbecuing and chatting can be found on the campaign
website at www.caloralfresco.co.uk.
A host of barbecue recipes, fundraising ideas, a downloadable
barbecue invitation and barbecuing tips can also be
found on the site.
