Calor, the UK 's leading supplier of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) is calling on (COUNTY) residents to tell them about their local farmers markets, as the rural fuel supplier embarks on building the country's largest directory of farmers' markets covering England , Scotland and Wales .
Having worked closely with farming communities for over 70 years, Calor recognises the importance of farmers markets in re-establishing direct links between producers and the local public.
The national request follows the launch of an exclusive new service to the Calor website. Visitors to www.lpg-farming.co.uk/farmers-markets can access information on local farmers' markets as well as contributing to the site by completing the enquiry form and informing Calor of additional markets in the area.
The directory is still in its early stages but Calor is expecting to quadruple the list following the public's support, as Sabrina Jackson, Calor's commercial market manager explains: "Farmers markets are becoming increasingly more popular as consumers are looking for alternatives to mass produced foods, becoming more environmentally aware and are wanting to support local producers and reduce food miles.
"Presently there are a number of ways the public can access details on farmers markets. However, we at Calor feel that by creating a single directory for all these established markets it will help improve accessibility for consumers and therefore increase further awareness for the many wholesome and organic products that are being produced in this country."
Calor is very proud of its links with supporting farming communities. From supplying a cleaner burning fuel to power farming equipment through to bringing gas to off mains rural communities and sponsoring the highly successful national Calor Village of the Year competition, it continues to reinforce this relationship through ongoing research and developments of its LPG products and services.
