Reflecting the continued strong growth in the use of gas barbecues and patio heaters, Calor Patio Gas is now available to customers in the forecourts of BP & Safeway Partnership petrol stations for the first time.
Calor Patio Gas will be available initially in 50 BP & Safeway Partnership outlets, with a view to rolling the programme out to more outlets later in the year.
Domestic users of Calor Patio Gas for barbecues and patio heaters will be able to purchase Calor in 4.5kg, 7kg, 15kg and 3.9kg sizes, as well as 12 kg (instead of the 15kg size) in Scotland.
Calor is already sold through 30 BP & Safeway Partnership stores but has primarily been seen as a winter only market. Now with the introduction of Calor Patio Gas, Calor is able to offer gas to BP & Safeway Partnership customers all year round.
New Calor branded signage and POS is being used to promote the sale of Calor Patio Gas in BP & Safeway Partnership forecourts.
Calor has worked closely with BP & Safeway Partnership to ensure a smooth rollout, with forecourt managers undertaking an extensive training programme, aided by a bespoke sales pack containing information on all areas relating to the safe retailing of Calor cylinders, from storing product through to sales.
Andrea Price, consumer market manager at Calor, comments: “Calor has been available to buy on the forecourt since the early 80s and now with Calor Patio Gas to reflect core retail markets, this presents a unique opportunity for the forecourt retailer.
“Calor made the decision to roll out Calor Patio Gas in BP & Safeway Partnership at Easter as it is the start of the summer season and we are confident of a steady increase in sales, consolidated during the weekend period.”
