Calor will be demonstrating the benefits of using liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) in non mains gas areas to fuel heating equipment in the pig and poultry markets when it exhibits at the Pig and Poultry Fair on 09-10 May 2006.
The UK’s leading supplier of LPG has had a long standing relationship with the farming community for over 70 years and has made a varied and vital contribution to those communities who do not have access to mains gas.
Calor is exhibiting at the Pig and Poultry show to emphasise how it can provide cost effective and viable solutions to a host of problems encountered by the pig and poultry market, whether it be heating, fuel for ATVs or other farming equipment needed to make business a success.
A reliable power supply is essential in any business, but if you are a poultry or pig farmer it can be a matter of life or death if the supply is not constant and Calor understands this.
Calor recognises that whilst the demands for both markets are the same, the challenges faced by both pig and poultry farmers are completely different.
For example, healthy birds thrive on consistent levels of heat and sheds heated to the optimum temperature can influence feeding and sleeping. The moist heat produced by LPG also promotes feathering and overall weight gain.
On a similar level, the controllability of Calor LPG heating systems allows piglets to flourish in carefully controlled environments, which also promotes growth.
There is also the added confidence that piglets and poultry are safe as the fuel supply is secure and not susceptible to voltage reductions or power cuts, making it a cost effective solution.
For farming businesses already using Calor LPG to provide fuel for its domestic heating, water heating and catering requirements, the additional equipment can also be attached to the same bulk tank with ease.
Sabrina Jackson, Commercial Market Manager at Calor commented: “We have worked with the farming community for many years and when a business is dependent upon LPG for heating and livelihood it tends to make us acutely aware of the reliance put upon us.
“LPG is a cleaner burning fuel and can be used in the most sensitive of areas. It offers a reliable fuel source which helps heaters in animal sheds keep at optimum temperature, which in turn influences the welfare of the livestock.
“In addition, LPG mixes easily with air so fuel is not wasted through incomplete combustion so there is little danger of CO and CO2 pollution or contamination of feed.”
Calor understands how important reliability is, which is why it offers its customers unrivalled support. With the largest distribution network in Europe, it can reach even the remotest of areas and an additional benefit to using Calor LPG is The Think Tank® telemetry system.
The system automatically monitors the gas levels in your bulk tank and communicates with Calor when a top up is required. This means you should never have to worry about running out of gas especially if your business uses LPG for a number of different applications.
Powering your heaters, ATVs and farming equipment on Calor LPG ensures peace of mind beyond gas deliveries, as the company monitors, maintains and services the tank.
Calor will also be offering visitors to its stand, the option to enter a prize draw to win a fantastic Barbour wax jacket or a luxury hamper. All visitors have to do is answer a few simple survey questions before being entered into the draw.
Visitors can find the Calor stand at the Pig & Poultry Show on 09-10 May 2006 at stand 123.
