Calor, the UK’s leading supplier of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), has launched a new customer training package for the safe refuelling of LPG powered forklift trucks.
The new booklet and course are part of Calor’s comprehensive customer package for forklift truck operators. The main objective is to teach operators how to refuel equipment correctly and safely when refilling from their Calor LPG bulk tank.
Calor is providing two levels of training for companies - safe refuelling instruction and a train the trainer package.
Safe refuelling instruction is a basic training package delivered to operators by Calor. The train the trainer package is more in-depth. It is designed for companies who have an ongoing requirement to train forklift truck operators and who would benefit from an approved trainer on-site. The instruction includes a short presentation, followed by a multiple choice question paper and a demonstration on safe refuelling procedures. This package gives companies the flexibility to carry out training at their own convenience. Calor runs sessions throughout the year to train trainers, and material is provided afterwards for trainers to take away and use in their operator sessions.
Calor has also produced a booklet called A Guide to Safe Refueling for operators, which covers personal safety, hazardous places and area classification, housekeeping, cylinder storage, separation distances, installations, refuelling instructions, manual handling and action in an emergency.
Sabrina Jackson, Calor’s commercial marketing manager, says the company is committed to ensuring customers both new and existing are trained to the highest possible levels: “Sales of LPG-powered forklift trucks continue to rise and we are committed to working in partnership with our customers to ensure safe refuelling procedures are followed every time.”
