Diesel is also subject to strict fuel storage legislation meaning businesses can face fines for environmental damage caused as a result of a fuel spillage long after the incident occurred, and even after the company has moved premises.
Sabrina continues: "In contrast to electric forklift trucks , which typically take around eight hours to recharge, LPG forklift trucks can be quickly refuelled from a bulk tank, or by changing a gas cylinder, allowing a true 24/7 operation. As well as saving time on refuelling, running a fleet on LPG can save valuable storage space with no need for a separate area devoted to battery charging."
Electric powered forklifts area also threatened by the proposed Batteries Directive which states that the final disposal of automotive and industrial batteries into landfill and incineration will be prohibited, with all industrial and automotive batteries requiring recycling. Collection schemes to cater for this directive may be funded by end users or the cost passed on through increased battery prices.
