After a tour of the facility, and an introduction to Calor staff, Mr Hain talked to Customer Operations Manager Andrew Jenkins about Calor’s operations and the challenges Calor faces during the winter months.
Calor’s Andrew Jenkins said: “We are delighted that Mr Hain took the time to visit us and it was great to have the opportunity to show him Calor’s Neath operation. Winter is always our busiest time of year, and the last few years have been particularly testing, with bad weather making delivery to some of our more remote customers difficult. This year, Calor as a company is better equipped for winter than ever before - from taking on additional employees and improving our computer and telephone systems, to a revamped fleet of vehicles across Great Britain - and I am confident that we are better placed than ever to handle whatever weather comes our way.”
Peter Hain MP said: “The depot provides high quality service both locally and far and wide with its operations stretching right across the border into England. It is a longstanding and vital employer in the area and it is fantastic news that they are taking on more employees at this time.
“After some really harsh winters Calor’s Neath depot has gone to great lengths to ensure that they operate as normal if we are hit with snow again this year. Their preparations, from taking on more staff to a revamp of their fleet will, I’m sure, go a long way to ensure Calor will keep its customers warm this winter.”
