» Calor lighitng up Hadrian's wall
Saturday 13 March saw Calor, the UK’s leading supplier of bottled gas, play a key role in the spectacular illuminating Hadrian’s Wall event, which involved the lighting of torches along the line of the historical wall, from Newcastle to Carlisle.
As the official LPG supplier for the event, Calor supplied just under half of the 515 torches used to light the wall, along with 500 gas cylinders. Drawing on its 75 year history of innovation Calor and manufacturer Bullfinch worked together to create bespoke torches that could produce a safe, controllable and sizeable flame.
Dennis Marks, manager of the Carlisle Calor Centre, Graeme Howe, a Calor customer whose premises are built on top of Hadrian's wall, and Mark Lightburn were on hand to light beacon C26.
Sarah Haythornthwaite, Calor’s head of marketing, said: “It’s great to get involved in spectacles such as illuminating Hadrian’s Wall and fuse together modern technology with our country’s heritage.
“Calor has a proud heritage of supplying energy to rural areas well beyond the reach of the gas mains. It is the LPG supplier of choice to communities living and working ‘off the grid’, which means that tens of thousands of homes and businesses can utilise modern, environmentally sensitive applications wherever they choose to live.”
