» Local sales team dig out stranded residents from Brookside Park
Concerns had been raised about elderly residents on the council owned and operated site, near Farnborough, after the recent severe weather had prevented tankers from accessing LPG tanks. The local council was unable to provide assistance in clearing and gritting the access routes with the result that many customers were on the verge of running out of fuel. On hearing of the impending emergency, the Calor managers based near Southampton decided to take matters into their own hands.
As a result they arrived at the site and set to work with shovels to help clear the routes to allow access for the tankers. Over the course of the day, the Calor team managed to clear approximately 150 metres of roadway over six roads across the park. The roads were then treated with Calor’s own rock salt from their Fawley depot stock to ensure that both Calor tankers and residents could be assured of continued access.
More than 60 park residents are now guaranteed to receive their LPG deliveries in good time despite the treacherous conditions.
Matt Dunford, area sales manager for Calor, said: “With the freezing conditions showing no signs of letting up, we are conscious that some of our most vulnerable customers might be worrying about fuel supplies running low. While we are doing our level best to continue to get to our customers, whatever the conditions, we also need to make sure we are able to deliver our LPG safely. In the case of Brookside Park, we opted to take matters into our own hands to help customers and as well as digging out stranded customers we also took the opportunity to offer advice on how to conserve fuel in cold weather.”
